Our company Blue Logistics,
The Best Logistics Operator in El Salvador
Blue Logistics History
In 2004, ten years after the beginning of Export Salva, there was enough experience in the needs of clients and in attracting potential investors to the country. Additionally, Export Salva had an important prestige and a good network of contacts abroad.
Continuing with the diversification plan, the new strategy was to “develop business in service sectors“, thus reducing industrial dependence, where there was high Asian competition. The idea was to avoid competing for head-on with China and rather to turn them into potential customers in the region.
With this in mind, the group met some consultants from Uruguay, invited by the Office for the Promotion of Investors in El Salvador, to share the experience of that country as a regional distribution center and successful business model in Mercosur.
Interested in this new sector, we traveled to Uruguay to meet the Costa Oriental company and this is how the Group’s new logistics company emerged, together with Uruguayan friends, as industrial partners, to accelerate the experience curve.
Thus Blue Logistics was born, as a logistics operator and regional distribution center, offering logistics solutions, warehousing, value-added activities and distribution of products in Central America and the Caribbean.
Blue Logistics is currently the largest logistics operator in El Salvador under the International Services Law, with more than 60 clients specializing in Pharmaceuticals, Chemistry, Raw Materials and Consumer Goods. Additionally, it is the only logistics operator under this law, authorized by the National Directorate of Medicines in El Salvador, to handle and store pharmaceutical and healthcare products.
Short review of Hilasal
The Hilasal Group’s history dates back to the 19th century when José Sagrera arrived in El Salvador from Spain and set up a small workshop where he made very basic fabrics.
In 1942 José’s grandson, Ricardo Sagrera, founded Hilasal, a family textile company that primarily manufactured yarn and basic fabrics for the local market.
In 1959, the company began producing bath towels and became the first company to manufacture this product in the Central American region.
In 1968 the company began exporting its products to Europe and in 1975 under the direction of Ricardo Sagrera III, current President and CEO of the Hilasal Group, the first exports to the United States were made.
Hilasal currently has a modern vertically integrated plant in El Salvador. It is now one of the largest manufacturers of printed beach towels in the world and one of the largest manufacturers of towels in North America.
In addition to the towel factory, the group founded Valley Manufacturing, a clothing manufacturing company, in 1992. This division currently operates six plants with 2000 employees, serving prestigious customers such as Polo, Champion, Puma, etc.
In 1993, the group capitalized on synergies and incorporated Export Salva Free Zone, a 280,000 square meter business and service park with 10,000 employees. The experience of more than 74 years in manufacturing and distribution, together with the industry trends make us diversify our business lines, that is how in 2004 Blue Logistics was born as a Regional Distribution Center in El Salvador.
